Immersed in a jungle-like garden with over 900 different species of plants, this sublimely tranquil oasis designed by renowned landscape architects Eric Ossart and Arnaud Maurières, offers a heavenly escape. For groups and couples who appreciate an eco-friendly place in nature oozing with character and charm. A short drive from the ancient ramparts of Taroudant in a somewhat sophisticated suburb, lies this discreet paradise. Run by the engaging proprietor Olivier, emphasis is on the abundant garden with its countless rare species of cacti and succulents, inhabited by peacocks, tortoises, frogs, 21 happy cats and the odd drowsy dog. A sunken garden was created in the middle of the property and the quarried earth used to form individual rammed earth pisé buildings around the perimeter, used for guest accommodation. These charming bungalows offer utmost seclusion, with en suite bedroom/bathrooms, indoor and outdoor sitting areas. With a spa/hammam, two pools, plus several salons with generous windows allowing for inspiring vistas of the exotic environs and a raised restaurant serving decent European and local cuisine it’s hard to find a reason to leave the compound. A magical place to stay where truly delightful staff are always on hand to proffer drinks, light fires and help with luggage.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? We’re just 60kms away from Agadir Int’l airport, 3 hours from Marrakesh and a few minutes away from the medina hence the property is quiet, offers more space, a unique garden designed by the famous pair of garden designers Ossart & Maurières… with over 900 species of desert plants, our gardens are renowned as among the best contemporary Mediterranean gardens. Dar al Hossoun offers a nice combination of tradition and modern comfort… each room and space is very comfortable and unique in terms of configuration and decoration, based on local traditional handicrafts, earthware and textiles. Dar al Hossoun is a little hotel where each guest can find his/her own favorite area and space and get attentive and dedicated service. A lot of services are available on site : restaurant, bar, Spa, bicycles, 2 pools (1 heated when needed), excursions… What is there to do in the area? Taroudant and the region is all about traditional and rural life, natural landscapes, Berber villages, lovely routes and areas within a reasonable distance. Discovering the laid back and peacefull way of life of the local community, the souks, the medina workshops (leather goods and sandals, tailors, earthware…). What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer a full breakfast at no extra charge, including fresh fruits, homemade marmalades, yogurts, crepes, cakes…. Freshly baked traditional bread, eggs almost any way, juices, cheese, mineral water… And we’re flexible on the time so that you can get breakfast up to 11AM. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? Taroudant is rather poor in terms of places to go to for a nice meal. At Dar al Hossoun, we offer, a full restaurant services : lunch, snacks, dinner with the menu of the day or « à la carte »… Our cuisine is based on traditional recipes such as slowly cooked tagines, couscous braised or grilled meats, Meditarranean recipes and many other specialties Which are your most popular room types, and why? Each room is unique and has its own atmosphere, decoration etc. Our patio rooms are more central, the garden rooms are more remote and offer great garden views and natural daylight and the suites offer are more spacious. All of them have reversible aircon. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? Some rooms and suites offer extra beds and may be fitted with a child bed or baby cot. Children are welcome as long as their parents can keep them « under control » due to all the cactii, in our gardens… They usually have good times with our cats, dogs, peacocks and tortoise etc What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? Dar al Hossoun is said to be the right place to relax, discover and experience tradition without compromising with comfort… it is the right place to discover authentic Morocco. Our environmental policy (we’re Green Key certified) and the way we support the local community and our staff members create a special atmosphere where you can feel you really are welcome in a warm and green environment all year round.
A hotel with stunning gardens in the medieval town of Taroudant in southern Morocco is a riad in the true sense of the word
