Hotel Review
Once a grand 1930s home, this authentic Moroccan-owned riad resides in a prominent location and remains somewhat unchanged by time. Fine Art Deco details - sculpted lights, stained glass windows, black and white checkered floors and moulded wooden panelling and furniture are still very much in evidence.
Unlike some of Marrakech’s more formulaic, renovated riads, this one has an unusual layout with a wide stairway leading to rooms on different levels, one accessed via a quirky little metal bridge walkway. On the first floor there’s a small dipping pool with a sun deck above it and at the top of the property, a rooftop salon and terrace with traditional low cushioned seating.
Beds are grand and comfortable with soft pillows (unusual in Morocco) and rooms feel cocooning despite high ceilings as the lacquered walls are so thick and sturdy. Bathrooms have black and white tiled flooring and some have baths - a treat after a day traipsing round the souk.
