“This exclusive, five-star establishment combines a luxury hotel with a beach resort in Rio de Janeiro. Rooms are contemporary and bright with luxurious linens; book an ocean suite for sea views, living space and a bathtub. Have cocktails at the chic rooftop bar before dinner. A unique concept hotel.”

Hotel review

The Rio iteration of the São Paulo Emiliano brand is a lesson in purpose-built, luxury, city-beach living. The futuristic facade gives way to an internal wall garden, rooftop pool and bespoke rooms with sea-view terraces. Located on Copacabana's lively seafront, it is easy to see how this urban oasis has won over guests since its opening. The majority of the hotel's suites offer sea views, though there are courtyard view options. With 100 per cent Egyptian cotton and 400-thread bed linen, sleeping at this hotel is like having a bed in the clouds for a night. There are designer touches like the Victoria Albert Bathtub which elevate the simple, contemporary interiors. Book a spa suite for a private sauna and bathtub with a massage system. In the Emilie Restaurant, guests are treated to fresh, local products in the setting of the hotel's wall garden. Retreat up to the rooftop bar to catch the sunset with poolside drinks. The on-site spa is also well worth a visit, offering sleek, personalized services. No stone has been left unturned by these hoteliers and it shows; a chic and high-end city stay.

The Emiliano, Rio de Janeiro

There is a Burle Marx-inspired vertical garden, midcentury Modern chairs and sofas and a chic brass bar. It feels like the perfect middle ground between the classic scene at the Belmond Copacabana Palace to the north, and the excessive party vibe at the Fasano, just south.

Hotel Emiliano

The arrival of São Paulo’s Emiliano brand to the Copacabana district of Rio justifiably caused quite the buzz among locals, bringing an edge to rival the sharp boutiques of neighbouring Ipanema. Built for purpose, Emiliano not only has universal appeal, but updates Copacabana’s magic of yore with flair.
