Located in the south of Mallorca, only 40 minutes from Palma and the airport, and 15 minutes from the famous Es Trenc beach with its white sand and crystalline waters, Fontsanta overlooks the Es Salobrar salt flats and nature reserve and is a perfect luxury retreat. Being adult only the atmosphere is decidedly grown up, with an emphasis on privacy and relaxation — every room has a private terrace or balcony and the sun beds around the two pools are all doubles. In addition, dotted around the lush and fragrant gardens are private relaxation areas (hammocks and day beds) allocated to specific rooms, some with private hot tubs. The indoor outdoor (depending on the time of year) restaurant is excellent, whether for light salad lunches or full blown dinners (salt baked fish of the day, black pork suckling pig etc) — nothing is too much trouble and the wine list is refreshingly well priced considering this is a 5 star establishment.

Rooms are soothing with mainly muted white walls and wooden floors. Carefully curated Mallorcan artists feature throughout and add a touch of colour to each room. Giant beds, top quality linen and L'Occitaine bath products round it all off. But perhaps the best element of Fontsanta is the thermal spa and wellness. The naturally heated salt water spa is amazingly rejuvenating — either splash around in the indoor pool pressing buttons for underwater jets, gooseneck streams and waterfalls or wallow in your own private bath for one or two. The high salt level plus magnesium, calcium, sulphur, potassium etc leave your skin as soft as a baby's bottom and your mind surprisingly alert. Massages and other treatments are all on hand too.

With two pools, retaurant, bar, spa, comfy bedrooms and ever helpful staff, there's really no need to leave but for the more adventurous Es Trenc beach (part naturist) is 15 minutes away by hotel bike or car and Fontsanta has its own beach house with refreshments, sun loungers and showers.

Go to Fontsanta for a short break or longer, you're guaranteed to leave refreshed.
