Set back from busy Canal Street, the entrance immediately opens up into a vast lobby. Sound-baffling wooden frames create an intimacy, though, and locally sourced art delivers a sense of place. Where most five-star hotels would have an elaborate floral display, here there's the Chandelier Bar, a statement of intent by the hotel to honor the city's commitment to revelry.
