“An imposing hotel in a central location. The design cleverly amalgamates a professional feel with softer cultural touches. The city slicker will be equipped with everything they could need from a gymnasium to conference halls and multiple restaurants. An all encompassing hotel worthy of a stay.”

Hotel Review
After years of mimicking generic Western luxury, from fashion to hospitality, China is beginning to look inwards to embrace its own cultural legacy. Hotels such as The Grand Mansion, which celebrates Nanjing’s glory days during the Ming Dynasty, have emerged to offer guests a blend of luxury and local flavour. While expansive and modern, The Grand Mansion has touches that recall the feel of a private noble Chinese home, such as classical artworks, chinaware and handcrafted textiles. There are certainly some more ostentatious flourishes too; the needlessly enormous reception, the black swans Max and Moritz that live in the on-site Xi Garden, and the hotel’s jewel – and cocktail bar – the Traveller’s Library.
