Hidden away at the end of a quiet street, Hotel Touring's unpretentious exterior conceals tidy, bright and unfussy public areas and small but well-thought-out bedrooms. 'Single' rooms are in fact big enough for a small double bed, and have small balconies, so despite their limited size do not feel poky. Double rooms are considerably more spacious. All bedrooms are parquet-floored and have decent-sized showers (with bidet as well as WC), mini-fridges stocked with soft drinks and complimentary mineral water, and a kettle for tea and coffee. There's free WiFi throughout the hotel. In fine weather, Hotel Touring's biggest selling point is a rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of the towers, domes and pan-tiled roofs of the old city. Drinks are served here, and in summer you can bask in the open-air whirlpool bath. Breakfast is served in a bright basement space, and features treats like Parma ham and local cheeses.
