Sitting on the waterfront in a corner of the Kowloon peninsula – the up-and-coming Hung Hom Bay – the Kerry Hotel is a glossy new addition to the Hong Kong cityscape. With its sights set on luring visitors away from Hong Kong Island, the urban lifestyle resort makes the most of the ample space afforded by its less-explored location. Modern and comfortable rooms are far larger than many Hongkongers' entire apartments and 60% of them enjoy harbour vistas through vast portrait windows. Sea views have been created whenever possible throughout the hotel, with a grand and spacious lobby opening up onto one of several waterfront terraces and gardens, while an outdoor infinity pool overlooks the skyline. In the spirit of 'approachable luxury' that it was designed in, the Kerry has also positioned itself as a vibrant neighbourhood hub, offering affordable dining options that can be enjoyed by locals, an independent co-working space and experiential tours of Kowloon for guests.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? With the hotel’s unique podium design and landscaped outdoor tropical gardens, guests feel very removed from the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong despite the close proximity. The hotel is unique in how much space we have for guests to use – whether it is outdoor terraces, expansive gyms or our spacious guest rooms which start at 42 square metres. Our relaxed approach to luxury makes the hotel very approachable, we forego the usual formal dress codes and prefer guests to come to the hotel in their most comfortable state, very much in keeping with a resort style hotel. What is there to do in the area? We have curated a guide of the local area called the Bay Area Guide, which we produced to give guests a feel for the local area. Being situated in a residential area, guests can really get a feel of the authentic Hong Kong culture, exploring the local eateries, markets and temples. Our proximity to Hong Kong island via an 8 minute ferry provides excellent access to the sights of central Hong Kong meanwhile the infamous Temple Street Market and Ladies Market, as well as museums, are just a short taxi ride away. What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer an extensive buffet selection in Big Bay Café on the third floor, featuring cuisines from all over the world. In addition, guests can also choose from a selection of in-room dining dishes to be enjoyed from the comfort of their room, or if you are in a rush, have a simple pastry and coffee at our lobby lounge. For Club Lounge guests, a selection of buffet items are available as well as an a la carte menu. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We have our signature Chinese restaurant, Hung Tong, serving modern Cantonese food, Red Sugar, featuring Asian inspired cocktails with an expansive outdoor terrace with 270 degree views over Hong Kong island. Downstairs our Lobby Lounge serves locally inspired dishes and a Hong Kong style Afternoon Tea set with traditional drinks including Silk Stocking Milk Tea. Dockyard, operated entirely through an APP, features 9 individual restaurants and a bar, allowing diners to browse and order simultaneously from all for a relaxed and social dining experience. Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our most popular room types are our sea facing rooms. With uninterrupted views of the harbour it is not difficult to understand why! With the curvature of the hotel’s design, we benefit from having over 60% of the hotel’s rooms facing the harbour. What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ? We can fit extra beds in the rooms, from the lowest category, our Deluxe City View Rooms, upwards. We cater for children in many ways, we include a variety of children’s amenities on arrival in the rooms, including our signature Kerry Kangaroo teddy and a Kerry welcome pack. In addition we have our Kerry bouncy castle which was designed by the hotel and used during restaurant promotions for children to play on. Other children’s activities include arts and crafts and outdoor activities during hotel family staycation periods. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? Kerry Hotel Hong Kong is unlike any other hotel in the city – with our expansive outdoor landscapes and access to the authentic Hong Kong culture, we provide a unique experience to our guests through our relaxed approach to luxury.
"Kerry Hotel, a five-star brand within the Shangri-La group, describes itself as the city’s first “urban resort” – a reference to its impressively spacious setting on the Kowloon waterfront."
