Hotel review

Kilcamb Lodge, idyllically set on the shoreline of Loch Sunart, is thought to be one of the oldest stone houses in Scotland. In the grounds, otters scamper over sea-weed covered rocks and a giant lime tree stands sentry-like outside the front door. Just beyond the gate, the wild splendour of the Ardnamurchan peninsula beckons to be explored. The mood inside is intimate, friendly and comfortable. The best bedrooms have splendid views over the loch and modern bathrooms. Head chef, Tammo Siemers, takes an ambitious approach to the food which can have incongruous results but is generally very pleasing.
