Hotel Review
Tucked away in the historic centre of Pienza, a tiny renaissance village in southern Tuscany, this charming boutique hotel offers stylish, contemporary rooms in a beautiful former palazzo. Offering easy access to the wine capitals of Montalcino and Montepulciano, the hotel works perfectly as a base for local exploring in the region, or as a chic hideaway holiday. An intimate Tuscan restaurant and walled-garden terrace complete the idyllic country experience.
The former nun's cells in this palazzo have been converted into bright and airy guestrooms which blend original heritage details with contemporary design. Original, exposed stone walls nod to the property's legacy, while crisp white linens and sleek modern lines add a twenty-first century feel. Bathrooms have ceramic soaking tubs and windows that look out onto traditional village life or the medieval-style garden.
Whether you prefer a quieter, village-based break or want to roam the neighbouring Tuscan countryside, the hotel owner will be more than happy to point you in the right direction. Leaving New York for Tuscany thirteen years ago, he is a goldmine of local knowledge and insider tips - from wine tastings to art and architecture. A stylish and well-thought out hotel, great for couples and culture lovers.
