“Luxurious country estate with a spectacular Georgian Palladian mansion at its heart. Luxuries include four poster beds, fireplaces and in room hot tubs making for an utterly spoiling stay. Pampering treatment rooms and organic food in the Coach House AA-Rosette restaurant offer a guilt-free treat.”

Hotel review

This luxurious and sustainable country retreat is discreetly hidden away but has the North York Moors, Dales and the lovely market town of Richmond right on its doorstep. Plenty of adventures to be had either on foot or by bike and in this eco world, arrive by train at nearby Darlington and it's only 15 minutes away.

When James and Rebecca took over the estate it was run down but through a labour of love (spanning 7 years) they have transformed it. Rooms dotted across the old estate buildings are designed with warm and earthy tones, have oodles of space and there’s Noble Isle lotions and potions in the bathrooms. Suites are just sensational: The Dairy rooms include sprawling queen-sized beds, a cosy lounge area, and an adult treat cupboard. The Coach House restaurant with its estate-to-plate ethos offers delicious homegrown, locally sourced cuisine.

Borrow a bicycle or take the 2-mile woodland walk on the estate itself, making sure you’re back in time for a REN or VOYA treatment and the new Forest Spa is eagerly awaited in 2022, complete with a chic outdoor pool area.

The Tack Room is just that, the old tack room, with a huge bathroom and a collage above the fireplace made of pretty old bits of pottery by owner James Allison’s partner Rebecca, who is also responsible for all the new interiors of the Coach House.
