“A lovely country estate just north of Perth. Rooms offer traditional Scottish comfort. The colour scheme matches the exterior views (plenty of heathery hues and tweeds) and the best come with four posters and indulgent bathrooms. Fabulous food & a welcoming environment ensure a stand-out stay.”

Hotel Review

Spread over 365 acres and encompassing woodland, two golf courses, stately gardens and a section of the River Tay, this boutique hotel with a sociable, informal style and the pulse of history coursing through its veins (the 400 year old estate was originally owned by descendants of the Earls of Mansfield from nearby Scone Palace), draws guests from far and wide. Helpful, courteous staff are intent on making guests feel at home and although Murrayshall feels ever-so-far from the madding crowds, the ‘Fair City’ of Perth is only around three miles away, while it's a mere 1 ½ mile hop, skip and jump to Scone Palace, a national treasure and crowning place of 42 Scottish kings. Murrayshall’s forty rooms and suites are spread across the main house as well as the newer Balvaird House and since they positively welcome dogs here, your four-legged companion will be made very welcome. There are two restaurants - fine dining venue Eòlas — Gaelic for ‘experience’ — and Cairns, the more casual option. In nice weather, guests can eat outside in The Courtyard. Fancy a pre or post dinner drink? Stylishly comfortable Barossa bar with its open fire is just the place to wind down while contemplating the magnificent surroundings. Afternoon tea is served in here too. A comfortable country stay that succeeds on many levels!
