Hotel review

Blissful tranquility awaits at this delightful, historic family-run hotel with spectacular uninterrupted panoramic hilltop views overlooking the Lakonikós Gulf and Taygetos and Parnonas mountains. Once part of a 32-house village that was bombed to ruins in 1943 during World War II, the property has been in the Petropoulakis family since 1790. Dimitri, the current châtelain restored the tower and converted it into a hotel in 2008. Co-managed with his wife Panagiota, the pair run a tight ship with their son taking the helm in the restaurant kitchen using ingredients from their farm. Rooms are charming and comfortable, like staying in someone's cherished home. Dimitri and his wife are on hand to help with any queries and even eat alongside guests once the deliciously authentic food has been served. It's the personal touch and care that make this place truly special. Dinner and breakfast are taken in the pretty courtyard by the pool with the glorious ever changing vista beyond. Expect absolute relaxation and a sublime sleep. For those who can pull themselves away, it's a 10 minute drive to the charming harbour town of Gythio and 20 minutes to some lovely sandy beaches.
