Hotel review

Situated in the newly constructed Porto Montenegro Marina complex in Tivat, the Regent is its flagship luxury hotel. The hotel oozes glamour and charm and its concept finds its roots in its setting — the Regent is themed around a luxury liner and much of the decor echoes this (yacht sail canopies over the beds, rope adorned mirrors and navy and white cushions on exterior furniture). Rooms are spacious and comfortable, some come with small kitchenette and all have balconies with either mountain or sea views. We recommend going for a sea view, where you can soak up the sunsets and ogle the super-yachts permanently moored below. Bathrooms are similarly spacious and all feature huge rain showers and complimentary Occidental smellies. Dining is a joy — the food (where ever you choose to partake, dining room, bar or gourmet patisserie) is superb. The Dining Room is a sophisticated space with lavish deep red upholstered chairs and a huge terrace for outdoor dining (there's even a fire for when the nights turn chilly). The library bar has a distinctly gentleman's clubby feel and as its name would suggest its walls are lined with lovely old tomes, many sourced from Paris' flea markets. Finally there's a great spa area where as well as the usual pampering treatments on offer, you'll find a gym and two swimming pools (one indoor with whirlpool and one outdoor — a gorgeous infinity pool with views out over the bay). Porto Montenegro is a chic spot in an increasingly popular part of the world and it makes an ideal base for exploring the wider area of Kotor bay. The Regent ticks many boxes — lovely location, good accommodation and great food. But of real note are the staff, super friendly and helpful without being overbearing — they've got the balance absolutely spot on. It's the perfect property for some R'n'R or a luxury break on the beautiful Adriatic coast.
