Hotel Review

Set in Paris's Left Bank, discreetly off a quiet lane in Saint-Germain-des-Prés in the heart of the city, the small luxury five-star Relais Christine gives guests a true taste of classical French style and romance. It feels like a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city as soon as you enter through its pretty, peaceful courtyard; a relaxing home-from-home (or perhaps ‘luxury mansion’ is more appropriate) that makes you want to linger longer and soak up all of the pleasures that await. From the sumptuous armchairs, arty coffee table books and honesty bar in the boudoir-styled lounge, to the basement where grand 13th-century vaults house a Finnish sauna, hot tub and – one of the best features of the hotel - its Spa Guerlain where guests can indulge in an array of restorative treatments, including one of the best facials that our Hotel Guru reviewer has ever experienced. The opulent, elegant decor can be found throughout its spacious 48 rooms too; with chandeliers, marble baths, plush carpets, floor-to-ceiling drapes and velvet cushions – and no room looks the same. Staff are always welcoming and accommodating to any request and despite its romantic vibe, the hotel doesn’t only cater to couples; it does an excellent job of welcoming families too, thanks to its spacious family suites. Its vast breakfast buffet deserves a special mention (don’t miss the freshly baked croissants) and despite it lacking an official restaurant, cuisine from Le Christine restaurant next door is available via room service.
