Tucked down an alleyway at the end of a derb close to the buzzing spice market, Riad Danka makes for a charming and quiet oasis within the hustle and bustle of the medina. All six rooms are lofty and spacious with high ceilings, tastefully decorated in soothing, muted tones. The large, central courtyard is a tranquil place to sit as is the rooftop terrace with views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains - also an excellent people/scene-watching spot as many of the popular nearby restaurants such as Nomad are within sight.

The French owners spend half the week in Marrakech and the other half in Casablanca, however, the delightful staff are on hand to ensure a comfortable stay. The kitchen is often busy with preparations for dinner - tasty and wholesome Moroccan fare - made lovingly by hardworking women who are happy to demonstrate how to make cheese briouats. Breakfast is enjoyed on the roof terrace. When it rains, the retractable roof cover is used to protect the riad and guests from getting damp. The perfect sanctuary for relaxing and/or exploring the city.
