“Lively and hip hotel in an iconic Southbank building, evocative of a 1920s ocean liner. A wide range of rooms and suites all finished in a contemporary style with continued nautical themes, and selected pieces of designer furniture. Fabulous rooftop bar and terrace with superb city views. ”

Hotel review

Situated in the iconic Brutalist Sea Containers building on London’s Southbank, Sea Containers Hotel is a magnet for anyone looking for a contemporary base in an excellent central location. Immediately you enter the property you’re confronted by its dramatic interiors from the panelled, copper clad reception to the art installations and sculptures in the lobby. This is a place that is begging to be noticed, but in a fun, humour filled way! The interiors have been inspired by the golden era of 1920s cruise ships and created by award wining designer, Tom Dixon, so you can expect rooms that really do feel like ships cabins (albeit ones where you can find marble bathrooms plus bespoke furnishings and lighting)! We’d recommend you book one with a river view….it’s a shame to stay in a water front property and not enjoy the stunning views up and down the Thames from wall-to-wall windows. But there’s more to Sea Containers than just the acccommodation - it’s got a reputation as a go-to party spot and the vibe at the 12th Knot rooftop bar and terrace is lively and buzzing. As well as stunning views, the cocktails are pretty impressive and there’s an inhouse DJ at the decks till late (top tip - book a table in advance, or you may well be disappointed). Downstairs there’s another impressive cocktail bar, Lyaness, where renowned mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana has created a range of drinks that are guaranteed to boggle the mind! If you prefer your entertainment a little quieter, then either head down to the agua Spa for a relaxing treatment (they offer bespoke medical facials from Kate Kerr), or take in a movie at the onsite 56 seater Curzon Cinema. For a lively stay, in a plum London location, Sea Containers is hard to beat.
