Hotel Review

Situated on Marylebone Lane, a trendy neighbourhood where Soho and Mayfair meet Marylebone, you’ll find the newly opened (Sept 2023) BoTree Hotel. Entering the crowded London five star scene is never an easy task, but The BoTree has arrived with style and substance and a new “conscious luxury” ethos where their goal is to provide an experience full of "love, compassion and truth" and one which minimises any damage to the planet. Rooms and suites are beautifully done in neutral palettes with a bright, statement floral wall behind the vegan leather headboards. The theme is very much flower driven (there’s a range of carefully chosen tomes in rooms and public spaces echoing this) with plenty of pinks and oranges lending a cheerful vibe when so-often hotel rooms fall into the safe, beige mindset. You can expect plenty of gorgeous pale woods, luxurious bathrooms with Jo Loves products and seriously comfortable beds with soft as silk sheets. In an attempt to stand out from the crowd, you won’t find a traditional reception here. Rather you’re greeted by an efficient and friendly team who will sit you down on a comfy leather sofa with a drink, then attend to all the necessary minutiae. Easy peasy and far nicer than hanging by a serious looking desk waiting for the paperwork to be done. This relaxed vibe is a real feature of the hotel, seen not only in its staff demeanour, but also in the fun décor. The bar and restaurant share this sentiment, and both are frequented by hotel guests and locals alike adding to the fun feel. You can expect inventive cocktails (a twist on the traditionals) in the bar, and seriously good food in LAVO. Here the offering is Italian with a West Coast USA twist, so the menu might seem a bit eclectic; however the finished dishes are extremely tasty. A word of warning though: some of the portions are enormous — check with your waiter as it might be better to share! Breakfast is also served in LAVO; the buffet is excellent and the à la carte plates freshly prepared and delicious. For a recently opened property to be this good and this popular so quickly can only mean that they’re getting things right, and I’d agree. It’s certainly somewhere I’d go back to!
