“An 18th century coaching inn, yet full of fun from within. Rooms are decorated with individual touches like ornate mirrors, brass beds to antique dressers complete with floral Cole & Son wallpapers. There are two restaurants, with an emphasis on locally sourced seafood and the popular Venner bar. ”

Hotel review

Owner's Richard and NIkki clearly know their clientele very well and they go out of their way to make their stay as memorable as possible. Whilst the ink-blue, 18th century Georgian facade is imposing from the outside, inside the property is full of retro-chic and fun. It attracts couples, looking for a country escape from the city and young families looking for a seaside holiday. Most rooms are spacious, except for the 'Petit Doubles' where the clue is in the name, and all are decorated in a fun and fabulous chic decor. Think loud Cole & Son floral prints, combined with plush Zoffany fabrics and accented with vintage furnishings. The Red Four Poster Room is certainly the largest and comes complete with roll top bath. The rooms in the more modern wing of the hotel in 'The Stable' are larger and good for families. Head chef George Marsh serves a locally sourced menu with an emphasis on, being so close to the coast, seafood. Lunch and dinner can be taken in The Bull Hotel's restaurant or the more informal "Stables". Delicious packed lunches are available on request to take for a day at the beach or a long windy walk. After dinner guests migrate up towards the 'Venner Bar' where their resident mixologist will create something special. There is also the elaborate ball room which can be used for weddings or private parties.
