Right in the heart of Castle Combe, voted 'England's prettiest village' and the location for some famous film shoots from War Horse to Harry Potter, lies The Castle Inn Hotel. A wonderfully historic and wonky property it occupies a central spot. Enter into the cosy pub, complete with open fire and plenty of polished brass. Sip on local ales, mulled wine and cider in the winter months or a Pimms in the summer. In contrast, the restaurant has a more modern feel with plush velvet sofas and smart lighting. The contemporary twist runs through to the menu including indulgent dishes such as seared king scallops and spicy braised pork belly; all beautifully presented. The conservatory can sit 32 people for private functions. Outside there is a spacious terrace, perfect for enjoying a cream tea in the summer months. Upstairs, bedrooms are decorated in a traditional style. With exposed (and in some cases low) beams taller guests would be better suited opting for rooms with four-poster beds to ensure plenty of headroom! All are beautifully decorated in rich reds and heavy silks. Complimentary toiletries, bath robes and a hair dryer are included as standard. As is a Full English breakfast, a selection of cereals or smoked fish to prepare guests for a day outdoors in the countryside. A superb and well run country inn, located in an enviable location with good transport links. The perfect village retreat.
