The Pillars Hotel

Situated on New River Sound, a block from the beach, this classic Art Deco hotel is "a delightful, polished, intimate gem directly on the Intracoastal Waterway. The sunsets here are magical." British colonial–style guest rooms and suites, done in soft greens and yellows, with dark woods and black-and-white pictures by a local artist, are "comfortable, not pretentious." Marble bathrooms have Molton Brown amenities. "Dining dockside is wonderful, and the food is pretty terrific"—American cuisine with Moroccan accents, courtesy of the Moroccan chef.
