“Situated in Chicago's Wicker Park, The Robey is set in the art-deco former Northwest Tower building and provides boutique, upmarket accommodation. Expect fresh and contemporary design. Café Robey serves up French-American fusion cuisine and cocktails are served on the rooftop lounge. Superb!”

Hotel review

In the heart of Chicago’s hipster Wicker Park neighbourhood, surrounded by cool bars, food hotspots and vintage shops, The Robey is the perfect base to soak up the area and mix with locals in the hotel’s vibrant communal spaces. Set in a landmark, triangular building, the style of the hotel combines minimalist, modern, industrial design with art deco touches, such as bronze lift doors and 1950s corded telephones in the guest rooms. Head to one of the two rooftop bars – The Up Room and Club Cabana - to soak up Chicago’s iconic skyline over an expertly-crafted cocktail. The latter has a small pool so if you get there early enough (it gets crowded), you might be able to grab a sun lounger. There’s also the 90s-inspired bar Clever Coyote that’s reminiscent of a social space in a trendy youth hostel, as well as the cosy Café Robey on the ground floor which is a great spot for brunch.

Guest rooms feature large windows so plenty of natural light and views of Chicago’s cityscape. Some of the rooms, such as Landmark Queens, are small and cater to budget travellers, but more spacious rooms are available, including a triangular-shaped suite. Appreciated features include black-out blinds, a free mini-bar, Le Labo bath products and comfortable beds.

This Midwestern City Now Has Some of the Country’s

Housed in a historic Art Deco tower, The Robey might be exactly what you’d expect from a design-centric landmark hotel in a hip neighborhood—but that doesn’t make it any less appealing. Its 69 guest rooms are decorated with a minimalist blend of mid-century modern and industrial furnishings; the color scheme is an Edward Hopper-inspired palette of dark gray, burgandy, and cream; and the sparse, white bathrooms boast Le Labo products and denim bathrobes.

The Robey

Like a piece of Trivial Pursuit pie, the striking wedge-shaped Art Deco building peers over a famous six-corner intersection in the kinetic Wicker Park neighborhood. Skyline views rise in the distance, while the local scene's beloved music venues, restaurants and bars call for full immersion.
