Opened in 1915, this might be the most historic and beautiful hotel in trendy Venice Beach. In its heyday, it hosted the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Clara Bow, The Doors, and legendary local skaters, the Z-Boy crew. Today, it’s had a bohemian makeover thanks to hotel interior design pioneer, Kelly Wearstler and feels like a giant posh beach shack. All rooms have Pacific Ocean views, white walls and ethnic features like carved wood headboards and woven cushions and rugs, and Aesop products in bathrooms. The small lobby is bright and fresh, with lovely old features like wood panelling and a beautiful old lift with brass details. There’s no restaurant on site but they do serve complimentary coffee at the weekend in the lobby.
