Hotel Review
Villa Song’s cream-coloured colonial building is only a short (and complimentary) boat ride from Ho Chi Minh’s bustling city centre, but this leafy haven feels a million miles away from Vietnam’s largest city. The rooms are simple and elegant, with dark wood floors, a restful palette in neutral shades and an old-fashioned ceiling fan that whirs lazily. A complimentary minibar stocked with water, juices and a few beers is a nice touch, but it’s worth leaving your room for a drink at the scenic riverfront restaurant. With palm trees lining the terrace, it’s an ideal spot to watch as boats traverse slowly up and down the Saigon River. An expansive swimming pool offers respite from the tropical heat, and there’s a small fitness centre tucked nearby. An in-house spa offers a wide range of facials, scrubs, wraps and waxing for those interested. Recommended for families and those wanting a more peaceful location.

Why do people love staying in your hotel?
It’s out of the hustle and bustle. HCMC has 7.2 million motorbikes and we are just 15 min away from the action, by complimentary speedboat. Guests love our location by the river. Ultimately, they love the staff. We have a cheerful happy team who bend over backwards to make the guests happy. We also don’t nickel and dime our guests: free wifi, free mini bar, free boat shuttle and the most talked about item: free breakfast SERVED ALL DAY LONG, so no need to set your alarm clock!
What is there to do in the area?
It’s a residential neighborhood but with very trendy restaurants/cafes/craft beweries and some upmarket boutiques. 2 of the best French restaurants in HCMC are in our neighborhood. Tours pick you up from our doorstep, no need to go into D1 to meet up.
What kind of breakfast do you offer?
All day complimentary breakfast, ordered from ala carte menu, cooked to order. Divided into Western and Vietnamese favorites, offering everything from Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon, French Toast etc to Vietnamese Pho or traditional rice pancakes etc. we also have vegetarian and gluten free options.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally?
We have an eclectic menu serving all day dining (Western, Asian and Vietnamese favorites) until 6pm and then a finely crafted fusion / semi fine dining dinner menu from 6pm to 10.30pm. There are MANY great places nearby to hotel and the front desk has a list of recommended restaurants.
Which are your most popular room types, and why?
With only 23 rooms, this is a tricky one. I would say the suites are the most popular, mainly for the wide views of the Saigon River and bigger room space.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
We do not have dedicated facilities for children apart from our swimming pool. We have a kids menu in the restaurant. Due to the different room sizes, not all rooms can accommodate an extra bed.
What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
We are a calm oasis from where you can plan your daily activities to explore the city or even the rest of the country. We have a team who are totally dedicated to serving you and to make your stay a memorable and enjoyable one.
