North Hatley

North Hatley, situated at the north end of Lake Massawippi is a jewel among the Eastern Townships region of Quebec. In 1852 the St. Lawrence and Atlantic railroad arrived and the following decades witnessed a building boom. In the 1880’s one Dr Clark of Baltimore came for a holiday with his family. Enchanted he built a second home here and began a trend, being followed by many of the great and good of Maryland. As a result, North Hatley boasts many impressive villas. And these led to sports clubs, library, golf course, luxury hotels and steamboats.

North Hatley has interesting boutique shops, galleries and cafes and is home to many artists and craftspeople. It has been the location for many films, including ‘Secret Window’ with Johnny Depp.
