About Carantec

Carantec is a small town on Brittany's Bay of Morlaix, just along from Saint-Pol-de-Léon and well-known Roscoff. A long-time favourite with beachgoers, watersports enthusiasts and birdwatchers, Carantec has grown from a fishing village to a thriving summer resort town. Choose from self-catering cottages or gourmet foodie hotels for a rejuvenating seaside holiday. With the best places to stay in Carantec offering spellbinding sea views, you’ll be perfectly placed to soak up the charms of coastal Brittany.

The Bay of Morlaix’s many islands are fascinating. One of Brittany’s most important ornithology reserves, the region is home to 60,000 seabirds each winter, including France’s only colony of Roseate terns. Sail, kayak, swim or water ski in striking surroundings, take boat trips to the little coves of the picturesque Ile Callot, or soak up the sunshine at one of Carantec’s seven beaches. History buffs will be enthralled by the 16-century Château du Taureau, and the Cairn of Barnenez, the largest megalithic mausoleum in Europe.

Go walking, cycling or horse riding along windswept coastal paths before retreating to one of the best places to stay in Carantec for a delicious dinner. One of our favourite hotels even has its own Michelin-starred restaurant!
