About Kiel

Originally a small port town on the Baltic Sea, Kiel has grown into a beautiful waterfront city. Now the capital of Schleswig-Holstein, the city has long been of great strategic importance to northern Germany. Famed as a ship-building centre, Kiel also boasts some striking architecture and an excellent university.
