The sleepy town of Begur, topped by a medieval castle, is one of our favourite Costa Brava destinations. Base yourself in town for heritage-focused strolls and fabulous food, or head towards the coast to experience cliff-side hotels with mesmerising views. Tiny seaside Cadaqués — once frequented by Salvador Dalí — is another delight, with its pebbled beaches and laid-back atmosphere. Llafranc, too, is very special.
Venture further inland to see stone villages dotted between vines and orange-coloured earth. You’ll find some of Europe's most important Greek, Roman and Iberian archaeological sites scattered across the countryside, as well as fantastic opportunities to go hiking, cycling and horse riding. The Cami de Ronda, a well-maintained walking path, runs the length of the Costa Brava and is not to be missed.
