"The new brand from Starwood Hotels for tech-savvy, urbane travellers finds its first home outside London in a historic building at the heart of Liverpool’s Dale Street district. The juxtaposition of heritage and contemporary, plus a stylish restaurant, lends an air of assured confidence."

"From the beautiful inlaid floor in what is now the reception to the glazed tiles on corridors upstairs, there is gorgeous detail everywhere you look. Be it a stained glass window; the vertigo-inducing, circular stairwells that drop down beneath the building’s famous gilded dome; or its acres of wood panelling and stucco ceilings."

"Just round the corner from the Cavern Club, Aloft Liverpool opened last October in the strikingly ornate former offices of the Royal Insurance Company, which date from 1904. At one corner near the reception, a tower known as the rotunda shoots upwards with a circular atrium with balconies on each of the six floors, but the most architecturally interesting part of the building is the lobby. This is a vast space, about 50m long, with elaborate ceiling cornices and mahogany wood panelling, which features three bars and a restaurant."
