Classy and family-friendly aren’t often synonymous with the hotel world, which is what sets the Alpina apart. The elegant interior of this four-star superior hotel is sleek with marble, wood and glass, incorporating pleasing touches of the ornate wooden décor so favoured in Austria. The interior is surprisingly vast, boasting an impressive wine cellar and tasting room, indoor tennis courts, golf simulator, crèche and older kids’ play area. There is a welcome spa and wellness area. A first-class breakfast and dinner are served in the chic neutral-toned restaurant, while a pizzeria and bistro offer a casual dining experience. Most of the Alpina’s 72 rooms have traditional décor, but its 11 design rooms incorporate glass, dark wood, textured carpets and sumptuous fabrics to provide a luxurious modern twist on the ski lodge. The bathrooms have heated floors and large walk-in showers, perfect for warming the bones chilled on the slopes. The Schwarz family opened the hotel in 1972 and are always happy to supervise and chat to guests. Alpina offers high-class accommodation in a resort that eschews budget ski tourism in favour of a chic but family-friendly vibe.
