“Magnificent 18th-century mansion converted into a high-tech futuristic hotel. High ceilings, adjustable LED coloured mood lighting, minimalist decor - this is a funky and fun stay. Well positioned and priced near museums and boutiques in the lively Born district. ”

Hotel review

A grand 18th century mansion has been transformed into a futuristic space, with original features, including sweeping staircase. Doors are framed by sparkling curtains of twisted plastic lit by spotlights that constantly change colour. The mood in the rooms, too, can be transformed at the flick of a switch. On the ground floor: ultracool restaurant, La Burguesa. Both hotel and La Burguesa offer superb value.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? People love to stay with us, because chic&basic Born is different - a hotel with great personality, in the middle of the coolest district in Barcelona, full of details and surprises that will delight our guests. The rooms have a crystal shower in the middle and the guests can change the colour of the light depending on their mood. Furthermore our staff are particularly friendly and helpful and give the best tips for discovering the area and the city! What is there to do in the area? The Born district, considered the coolest district in the city, is multi-faceted and lively. On the one hand, it has a very extensive cultural offering: the Picasso Museum, the Santa Maria del Mar Church, the Estació de França station and the old Born Market. On the other hand, it is an area with a proliferation of the most original boutiques in the city. Small stores in which you can purchase designs from promising young artists, collections from select brands, the latest fashions and accessories. This area has also become a landmark for the most innovative restaurants and the most chic bars. During the day the cafés are full and at night Born offers an exciting selection of restaurants and bars for all tastes. What kind of breakfast do you offer? We offer a continental breakfast buffet for 9€ per person. Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? On Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays nights we offer Temaki-ya Lounge with Sushi in a relaxed environment that combines traditional and futuristic – food that combines the Japanese culture with Western culture. Cocktails are available every night. Besides our restaurant we recommend the following places: Cafe Kafka: modern spanish cuisine. La Paredta: not very fashionable but very authentic. Xampanet: typical pica pica tapas place. Tapas24: one of the best tapasbars in the city. Mercat de princesa: a FoodMarket which opened in summer 2013. Comerç24: haute cuisine, restaurant with 2 michelin stars. Which are your most popular room types, and why? The double standard and double superior room. Both rooms have a lot of daylight and a balcony. What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? See Barcelona from a different side, stay right in the city centre, in a funky small hotel, surrounded by boutiques, bars and restaurants, which will not disturb our guests rest - away from the typical tourist masses!
