“A charming off-the-beaten-track property in the heart of rural Andalucia. Just four simple rooms, one for families, decked out in traditional style yet with the all-essential air-con for summer months. Superb table d'hote style dinners and a pretty garden with salt water pool and views to die for!”

Hotel review

Cortijo La Haza is a charming off the beaten track property which is perfect for anyone with a desire to discover authentic Andalucia. Its location is sublime, nestled amongst the olive groves to the south of Lake Iznajar and the views are breathtaking - on clear day you can see as far as the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With just four rooms you can be assured of a very warm welcome and Bernadette and Patrick are renowned for their enthusiasm and propensity to "go the extra mile" for all their guests. The accommodation is charming - traditionally Andalucian in flavour but with all the modern amenities you could wish for (en suite bathrooms, air-con etc). Dinner is served either on the outside patio or the cosy dining room (in cooler months). It is a delicious daily changing table d'hote style affair, with dishes dictated by what Patrick finds in the market that day. The emphasis is on top-notch local ingredients that come with a slightly Belgian twist. Cortijo La Haza is the ideal choice for those wanting a charming base from which to explore hidden Spain, or simply for those wanting to chill by the pool with a good book. Plus it's family friendly and won't break the bank!

See what they say

Why do your guests love staying with you? 6-star service, gorgeous views, stunning location, peace and quiet, food to die for, authentic Andalucían cortijo with a soul, home from home, saltwater infinity pool.

What is there to do in the area? Bernadette aka “The Oracle” has an encyclopedic knowledge of the area, with suggestions for places to visit (Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, Ronda, even Sevilla, Priego de Cordoba, Antequera, Archidona, Alcalá la Real, Iznájar village, Subbética National Park, El Torcal National Park, Montilla and its bodegas...In addition to the advice, all guests get maps of the places they visit, complete driving instructions and suggestions where to park and/or go for tapas/lunch

What kind of breakfast do you offer? Our breakfast is of the (extensive) buffet kind, with enough changes every day to keep it lively and interesting.

Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We can recommend other restaurants in the area, but most guests stay in for dinner, owing to the top quality on offer. We can safely say that you will struggle to find better food in the area. With the best Spanish produce prepared with the Belgian touch.

Which are your most popular room types, and why? We have two rooms with a balcony (amazing vistas), and they are the ones that people want, but it is, of course impossible to guarantee they will be getting these, especially as both rooms have facilities for extra guests (one triple, one quadruple). They are by far the most popular year round

What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? We have the usual provisions for babies/children, i.e. high chair, cots, baby phone, etc. The advantage is that all our rooms are situated around the patio, where we dine during the warmer season, so children can go to bed and still be supervised from a distance. There is a small inflatable paddling pool available for use and some games. Most rooms can have an extra bed/cot fitted. Prices are available from our website. We also provide chikd friendly home made meals.
