“Lovely country house in beautiful Perthshire. Traditional cosy rooms with large sash windows and oh-so comfortable beds. A sitting room with a roaring fire to sink into, with a whisky, after a day outdoors. Stunning cuisine with the emphasis on local produce. The perfect country escape. ”

Hotel review

Glen Lyon, Scotland’s longest glen, is home to the Hobbit-like village of Fortingall. Thatched cottages, the amber coloured River Lyon and a Yew tree that claims to be the world’s oldest living thing surround the popular Fortingall Hotel which is, in itself, a utopia of the Arts and Crafts movement. The ten bedrooms are warmly furnished with superior rooms offering better views and more space. Downstairs the public rooms are filled with interesting books, antiques and cosy fireplaces. Head Chef, Darin Campbell has an impressive culinary background and an ambition to match – dinner is exceptionally good. Atmosphere can be a little flat so bring a fun companion.
