“Entirely charming, quaint Saxon B&B offers a stay of total seclusion completely off the 'beaten-track'. Rooms boast a delicate, rustic French-style decor, featuring plush beds. Surrounding gardens and countryside make this a gentle and beautiful stay. Plus 3 self-catering barns.”

Hotel review

This wonderful place is a secret hideaway where you feel totally immersed and contained in heavenly nature with sea views in one direction and fields in the other. Both the characterful and generous, beamed B&B rooms are designed to be very private (with separate stair access) and have a roll top bath in each space. The property has a fascinating and detailed history including the story of one proprietor in the early 1300s who was penalised heavily by King Edward II for receiving smuggled cargo (French white wine) from the wreck of the Ship of the Blessed Mary. The current owner Caroline, a charismatic character bought the property in 1987, and cooks up a hearty breakfast accompanied by homemade jams and yoghurt. There are 3 lovely self-catering barns for families. It’s a fabulously peaceful spot to unwind and escape the madding crowd yet also makes for a delightfully rural base from which to explore the island. With no light pollution the nighttime sky takes on its own magic.

" Miles from the beaten track and bordered by old stone barns, the guest wing of this Saxon house is charmingly simple. "
