Hotel Review
Located in the heart of Solden, in the Austrian Otz Valley of Tyrol where the famous Alpine Skiing World Cup takes place every year, the 5-star luxury resort Das Central calls out to those who want a bit of pampering.
Whether you are a skier in the winter or hiker in the summer, Das Central should be on your radar for the ultimate luxury experience. The hotel has an outstanding reputation as being one of the best retreats in all Austria with friendly service, gourmet dining by a Gault Millau chef, as well as personalized programs by the lifestyle and fitness concierge, Simon to keep you entertained as you explore the Tyrolean Alps.
The rooms range from traditional mountain furnished rooms to very modern wooden rooms you wish you could call home. Rooms come with a balcony overlooking the slopes and Otz Valley.
Das Central is an excellent stay for discerning and luxury travelers with the half-board option offering a full buffet breakfast, afternoon vitality snacks (more than just snack), as well as a gourmet 5-course dinner with a very large salad bar which is only at its best when the dining room is filled and no other events are running throughout the hotel. There is also a 30,000 bottle wine cave which can be enjoyed by guests, as well as the high-end Gault Millau Restaurant, Ötztaler Stube.
If you are a fan of James Bond, experience the full 007 at Ice Q Restaurant (owned by Das Central) before visiting the cinematic experience of Elements – a museum dedicated to the filming of Spectre with Daniel Craig. The restaurant Ice Q is an excellent dining experience for gourmets and you must try the Pino3000 red wine, whereas Tirolerstube is a great choice for simpler yet delicious Tyrolean specialties like spatzle and roast meats from the valley.

The restaurant Ötztaler Stube - awarded with 15 points (2 toques) by Gault Millau and 93 points in the renowned à la carte Guide - make the hotel to the place-to-be for food and wine lovers. People who love Fondue, will find their right place in the hotel too. Next to the wine cellar - where over 30,000 bottles are stored - there is a small and cozy Fondue Restaurant.
Which are your most popular room types, and why?
The most popular room type are the junior suite Chalet Ötztal & double rooms Vent. People like the look and feel of these rooms. Bright colours, modern furniture and enough space.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms ?
We can fit an extra bed to some of our room categories. We recommend families book their holidays in a well-being suite (separate bed & living room) or in a family suite (two bed room suite). During the high season we have child care in our Ötzi kids club.
What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers?
We recommend your readers: ALPIENNE SALT-CRYSTAL MASSAGE – enjoy a relaxing natural salt scrub with arnica, honey & stone pine or St. John’s wort and biopir to cleanse and care for your skin before we apply a salt stone massage using genuine salt-crystals. The massage increases blood flow, relaxes the tissues and has a positive impact on the nervous system. Products from ALPIENNE are manufactured from alpine herbs - also from the Ötztal Valley. The product range is 100% organic and free from additives.
