Hotel Juliani epitomises the concept of the boutique hotel. This converted seafront townhouse overlooks Spinola Bay, with 44 sophisticated rooms of contemporary chocolate brown and pale blue furnishings; a rooftop pool terrace with spectacular views and an award-winning restaurant. Its location, price and style makes it a strong contender that surpasses most of the bland mega-hotels that dominate the island. It's certainly worth paying a little extra for a room with a sea-view balcony, which will keep you entranced morning and night. In a livelier part of town, Hotel Juliani is situated near numerous good eateries and bars, but none probably beat Zest, the hotel's own East meets West fusion restaurant. With edgy, yet elegant interior design, a good atmosphere, impeccable service and fantastic food, this is a destination restaurant even if you're not staying in the hotel.
