Hotel Olio is a smart little B&B which was been converted from what was once the village music school. The house is also available as a full house rental and can sleep 8 - 10 guests. The property has been sympathetically restored and you'll find plenty of original features including beamed ceilings and antique tiled floors. With just three guest rooms, you can be sure of a quiet intimate stay. The style is traditional and chic - all rooms have modern four poster beds and smart ensuites feature walk-in rainshowers (one has a stand-alone bath tub). The tropical garden follows on with the cosy, intimate feel; there's a pretty patio where breakfast can be served, and a good sized heated saltwater pool, perfect for a lazy day or cooling off after a hike in the surrounding countryside. There is no restaurant, but the owners will happily point you in the right direction, whether you want to wander into the village or venture further afield for dinner. Hotel Olio is perfect for a totally relaxing break far from the crowded beaches that are so often associated with the Canary Islands.

Why do people love staying in your hotel? People love our hotel as our property offers traditional charm and character along with modern comfort. Our peaceful tropical garden, with heated swimming pool, is the perfect place to relax. As we are a small hotel we are able to offer a high level of personal service and a friendly and homely feel.
What is there to do in the area? Due to its diverse and varied scenery, in 2002 La Palma was declared a unique Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. La Palma offers an array of wonderful walking due to the network of well kept hiking paths stretching 1000 km. Hotel OLIO is situated close to the Caldera de Taburiente National Park and is therefore on the doorstep of where many hikes begin. Santa Cruz, the island’s historic capital, is just a short drive away. The town was once one of the most important ports in the Spanish empire and gateway to South America. It is a beautiful town to explore with ancient cobbled streets and traditional architecture. With the clearest skies in Europe, La Palma is home to a number of international telescopes as part of the astronomical observatory. The site has the most extensive astronomical facilities in the Northern Hemisphere and you are able to learn more about their fascinating work on a tour of the Observatory.
What kind of breakfast do you offer? Our continental breakfast is served at individual tables in our dining room, or outside on our cobbled terrace. We serve a varied menu each day of freshly squeezed juices, breads and pastries, cold meats and cheese, preserves, granola, yogurt and fruit.
Do you offer other meals? And can you recommend good places to eat out locally? We can help make dinner arrangements, including advice and making reservations. There are many excellent restaurants to choose from both in walking and driving distance. El Paso village is only a short walk away, which has a range of places to eat.
Which are your most popular room types, and why? Our Super King Room with Bath and Shower is our most popular room. It's a spacious room with a traditional Canarian beamed ceiling, roll top bath and offers wonderful views to the swimming pool and garden.
What facilities do you have for children and can you fit extra beds in your rooms? Our hotel is most suited to couples. However, we do welcome children and have extra beds for each room.
What message would you like to give Hotel Guru readers? La Palma is a wonderful destination which is undiscovered by many people. The island offers a wealth of sightseeing, adventure sports and hiking opportunities, while enjoying the benefit of spring like weather all year. Our small boutique is the perfect place to stay on the island, offering a unique combination of traditional charm, modern amenities and personal service.
