On a quiet road, five minutes’ walk along the river from the city centre, this excellent value, newly opened contemporary boutique hotel has 12 modern rooms over three floors within a late 19th-century townhouse. All rooms are of a good size with modern bathrooms and the odd quirky touch, such as, hand-painted murals and a free-standing bath in the top-floor room. While the hotel’s breakfast room is undergoing renovation, a light breakfast is an optional extra and served in your room. This is a great base for exploring the city, safe in the knowledge that a comfortable bed awaits you at the end of the day. No lift.
