“Seductive and chic b+b with oriental touches, very well located for shopping. Suits couples, dark and intimate, a short walk to the main sights. A breakfast fit for kings is served in the leafy courtyard. Quaint and utterly charming.”

Hotel Review
Locanda Novecento is a charming boutique hotel on a quiet back street in the heart of Venice. Tucked away from the city’s thronging crowds, the hotel is just a 5-minute walk from both St Mark’s Square and the Academia Gallery. After fuelling up on a breakfast of espressos and Venetian-style omlettes under the hotel’s classical veranda, wander through a maze of mesmerising canals or catch a vaporetto from the end of the street.
Just around the corner, you will find a sprawling piazza with bars serving aperols and cichetti late into the night, and crowds spilling out of beautiful churches and theatres. Locanda Novecento is a perfect refuge from which to explore the intoxicating city of Venice.
Run by Venice’s Romanelli family, the hotel’s 9 rooms are all uniquely decorated with hand-picked pieces boasting antique furniture, four-poster beds, and an eclectic mix of paintings. The hotel is intimate and romantic, with cozy corners next to fires to read books in and sofas to collapse onto after a long day of sightseeing. The walls are draped in exquisite fabrics, and artworks which have been collected on travels by generations of the Romanelli family.
Bedrooms boast Indonesian furniture and oriental rugs while common spaces are decorated in ethnic textiles and wooden floors, giving this hotel oodles of character. The Romanelllis have run hotels in the city for over 50-years, so Locanda Novecento comes with a pedigree of hospitality. The staff will make a real effort to get to know you and are full of insight in how to discover ‘the lesser known side of Venice’ through the eyes of the locals.
In fact, you don’t have to go far to discover Venice’s artistic charm, as the hotel regularly mounts its own exhibitions in the public rooms. In short, Locanda Novecento is Venice at its most friendly and authentic, and is refreshingly unpretentious.
