“A unique combination of imposing townhouse and ultra-chic modernist mews, No 31 is perfect for the design conscious visitor. Boasting generous bedrooms, a sunken ‘conversation pit’ and an honesty bar for evening tipples it’s a true find in every sense of the word. A truly luxury B&B.”

Hotel Review

Located in the heart of Georgian Dublin, No. 31 is something of a dichotomy with a Georgian townhouse to the front, and a modernist mews to the rear. The mews building was designed and lived in by divisive Irish architect Sam Stephenson in the late 1950’s and during his tenure, it became known as the party pad of the city. Stephenson’s influence is everywhere, the sunken lounge and honesty bar are a slice of retro heaven and the artworks threaded throughout the building just add to the bohemian feel. There are 15 glamorous guestrooms with comfortable beds, top-quality linens and all the mod-cons, replete with subtle nods to the jazz age. The city garden is a joy and the award winning breakfast, courtesy of Chef Delia has become something of an urban legend. The result is a property that is both flamboyant and elegant all just five minutes’ walk of St. Stephens Green making the lack of restaurant on site purely incidental. Minimum 2 night stay at the weekend.

Number 31

"Style is Number 31’s signature feature. The entrance area is firmly modernist: a sunken seating area is set in front of a broad fireplace, with a mirrored bar tucked into the corner."
