Oberwaid Hotel

Sitting high on the hills – peering over majestic Lake Constance, Oberwaid is a spoiling hotel. Attached to a private clinic it is clear that health is the main priority here. The Oberwaid has a steady stream of guests ranging from European celebrities, footballers and of course overworked Swiss-locals who come to recharge their batteries. Located approximately 10 minutes from St. Gallen city centre and a short drive to Lake Constance, the panoramic views of which are seen from all of the rooms. The architecture is quite special, inspired by the Tau symbol which promotes everything the Oberwaid stands for: wellness and good health. The Wellness centre, also named Tau, leaves little to be desired for featuring a large indoor pool, outside spa, huge fitness centre and a Hamman spa experience with adjoining serenity rooms. The rooms are large, very spacious and many of the suites are equipped with a kitchenette. All rooms have large flat-screen TVs, free wi-fi and open balconies with sun-chairs to enjoy the views. The friendly and professional staff are key to the Oberwaid’s appeal. The restaurant is another highlight with all the ingredients sourced from the region – Swiss salmon, home-made jams from nearby farms, milk from dairy farmers – all prepared and plated to perfection. The pastry chef is young and adventurous and all her desserts should be tested! The Sunday Brunch is a good way to enjoy St. Gallen and its surroundings before heading to the Lake for a swim. An ideal destination for a complete recharge.
