For a city made up of 263 different islands, Hong Kong is curiously bereft of seaside hotels. The Stanley Oriental Hotel is a recent opening in popular and picturesque Stanley Bay. Falling somewhere between a hotel and short-stay residence – rooms are converted apartments, and come equipped with kitchenettes – the waterfront-facing property comprises a small number of stylish, modern suites equipped with king-sized beds and enormous two-person bathtubs. You’ll also wake up to stunning seascape views with colourful fishing boats bobbing in the foreground – although the best is at the very top, where there sits a rooftop Jacuzzi which can be booked in advance, so make sure to do so.
