Hotel Review

Very much a budget option, Stepwell House is brought to you by the same management team as the nearby RAAS hotel, so you can expect excellent service and food to match. The rooms are simple but comfortable, and you don’t get a much better location. Right in the middle of Jodhpur’s Old Town and recently regenerated stepwell area, you are walking distance from all of the action and are surrounded by some of India’s smartest shops: Forest Essentials, Nicobar, and Via Jodhpur to name a few. The Stepwell itself, which every room has an aerial view of, is the centre of much action. Watch as young men (and those old enough to know better) cool off from the hot Rajasthani sun by catapulting themselves into its murky waters. Quite the spectacle. There is also excellent dining at the 360° rooftop restaurant, serving traditional North Indian dishes and tandoori grills. Whilst it has some stiff competition it has to boast one of the best views of Mehrangarh Fort. Guests of Stepwell House also enjoy breakfast at the next door Stepwell Café included in their rate, which has become a real hub for visiting travellers. Freshly baked pastries, eggs to order, proper coffee and juices are on the menu, and you’ll probably find yourself gravitating towards there for a sundowner too.
