“The Laindons is located on Hastings High Street, just a short walk from the coast. Offers chic, boutique accommodation in light hues with the odd splash of colour. Tuck into splendid breakfasts in the conservatory. An unassuming yet charming coastal break!”

Hotel review

London hair stylists Malcolm and Karen Twist took an impromptu visit to Hastings in 2017 and ended up buying the C18th former coach house on a whim. Before they could say hot-cross-bun, they had switched tweaking barnets full-time to running a popular boutique, five bedroom B&B business. Their collaborative experience as salon owners dealing with myriad clients has given them a natural approach to hospitality. Greeted by the gregarious Malcolm, you immediately feel at ease. The atmosphere is informal; rooms are light, contemporary and comfortable with the same quality linen sheets you find at the Mandarin Oriental. There’s a communal sitting room with honesty bar and a 1-seater salon for those whose hair needs attention. Karen has thought of every detail for guests, from soothing bath salts and professional shampoo to Teapig infusions and homemade biscuits. Breakfast is served in the conservatory and is home-cooked by your host. This makes for the perfect base for exploring the quirky Old Town and is a delightful place to stay.

The Laindons Boutique Bed and Breakfast

"Amidst the formal gents outfitters, artisan delis and antique emporiums of Hastings' Old Town, you'll find this chichi B&B in a dashing Grade-II listed Georgian coaching house. The interior charms with its stylish seaside/Scandi décor influenced by the owners’ time in Stockholm."
