Hotel review

A magnificent new palace of a hotel about ten minutes by cab from downtown. Rooms overlook the Meydan racecourse (a rare green view in dusty Dubai) and are commensurately quiet. The hotel is up to Mandarin Oriental standards when it comes to rooms and comfort - think super King Size bed with a top class mattress, excellent linens, generous bathroom and separate shower and loo - but they're still working on Mando service though! Most rooms also feature a large balcony and all is brand new. There are a range of restaurants to choose from and several bars too. Head up to the 11th floor where you'll find a rooftop infinity pool with a bar en suite (a separate childrens' pool keeps the splashing to a minimum). But if you want more action than lounging by the pool there's masses to do from the tennis academy and golf course to the gym & spa. A great spot for all the family and fabulous if you like a spot of horse racing!
