Delightful little pub, popular with locals and tourists alike. Right in the heart of town there is parking right next door (sometimes difficult to find in Arundel Town!) however a lack of outdoor dining. But what The Swan Hotel lacks in outdoor space, it makes up for in charming interiors. Downstairs the pub is filled with quirky antique pieces: a lamp made of cricket bats and a wall filled with framed portraits of former English monarchs, as well as plenty of Sussex memorabilia and an eternally crackling fire. There is a wide selection of local ales as well as a choice of freshly baked cakes: the afternoon tea here is better than any I've had at a pub before! The restaurant is a more sophisticated affair and serves a locally sourced, seasonal menu. Upstairs rooms, decorated in calming creams, greys and blues are of a good size, whilst white wood panelling gives a rustic feel and nautical artwork reminds guests that we're not too far from the sea here. Large bathrooms are a blessing as are the roll-top baths and complimentary toiletries. A continental breakfast or Full English is included in the rate. The option of breakfast in bed is a tempting one! A delightful and convenient stay for those wanting to explore the history and beauty of Arundel. Friendly staff are always happy to help and point you in the right direction, with many of the town's sights in walking distance.
