“A refreshing Moorish style retreat, nestled in orange groves and organic gardens. Light, airy and effortlessly stylish rooms offer seclusion, comfort and private terraces. Gourmet farm to fork cuisine served in a relaxed atmosphere. Two pools, tennis courts, and open air cinema seal the deal. Bliss!”

Hotel review

The Vila Monte has always been a gem of a hotel; more so now since the professional hotel management group DHM has taken control and given it a complete facelift. Of particular note are the helpful staff trained to work ‘from the heart’. Located in the hills behind Faro it is a haven for both families and couples wanting a fully pampered break. The reception desk surprisingly doubles as a bar serving all manner of cocktails and where the aromatic gin and tonics have been described as the best ever tasted. The 53 rooms are a total comfort, minimalist in design with mattresses to die for. Junior suites have the added advantage of large private terraces. There are several swimming pools, a pitch and putt course and driving range. Two excellent restaurants, the Laranjal for fine dining and chic evenings and A Terre for a more relaxed lunch or supper. The wine list has many delicious local wines at sensible prices. Short well organised, private excursions to local places of interest including oyster and olive farms are on offer and well worth it.
