Hotel Review
This family owned small luxury hotel has history, setting and charm in abundance. The 1825 convict-built riverside mansion is a Heritage listed property and there are only eight luxe suites, making a stay personal and intimate. With 13 original fireplaces restored and in use. A private ballroom and library, the place is a winning mixture of old Australian country style and new modern luxury. Antique maps share walls with contemporary art pieces. Suites are large and light with glorious views out to the River Derwent or manicured gardens. There’s free use of kayaks and bikes, and a sauna and hot tub to relax in after a day’s exploring. The situation only 25 minutes from Hobart in the Derwent Valley. This is Tasmania’s renowned gourmet bowl and makes a perfect place for foodies or, those into indulgent dining - make sure to go on a cheese making course or gin masterclass.
