Sonja began her career in the mid 90’s as a secondary school teacher in London teaching Science and Physical Education (Sonja was an international swimmer and simply adores nice pools and spas!) swiftly climbing to Head of Faculty. All the holiday-time associated with teaching allowed Sonja months to travel extensively around the world, from journeying across China on a third-class (“hard seat”) train to reclining on a 5-star beach in the Turks and Caicos Islands! However education management propelled her into the business sphere where she thrived in marketing and consulting, servicing many clients in the hotel industry. Sonja’s UK company moved her to Dublin to create and head up the Irish wing of the business, enabling her to travel extensively around Ireland in her pursuit of recruiting an Irish team. As her young family increased in size, Sonja moved her project management skills to property development in the booming market, setting up her own business and travelling extensively throughout Europe to source materials and ideas. Always staying at carefully selected hotels, Sonja’s renovations consistently matched the taste and quality of the very best of Europe’s establishments. This love affair of hotels, interiors, travel and buildings all had to lead somewhere, so Sonja (whilst enjoying her third new-born) commenced a Post-Graduate university course for two years in Media and Journalism allowing her to explore and develop her writing abilities. Completed with flying colours this prompted her to start writing on a professional basis about her favourite and most passionate subject - hotels! Sonja is also currently working on a guide to European travel with young children.
