About Tandil

Tandil is located in the south east of Buenos Aires province, and is widely believed to be named after the indigenous word for 'falling rock'. This references a large boulder which stood miraculously balanced on the edge of a rocky foothill until early in the 20th century, when it finally fell and split in two. Today a (fixed) replica commemorates the original.
